Following the success of THE PLEASURE GARDEN (1953), James Broughton was offered a Hollywood movie deal, which he turned down. Instead, the artist took a hiatus from filmmaking to focus on his poetry. 15 years later, he returned to filmmaking with THE BED (1967), which is now widely regarded as his best-known work and a countercultural classic.
