From the mid-1950s through to the early 1980s, Borea had extensive access as a freelance photographer to the set of The Today Show, which was the first news and lifestyle program of its kind in American television and became a blueprint for similar morning shows. Jack Lescoulie, the original announcer for the Today show, begins the pilot episode with the remark: "We are in touch with the world. We'll tell you what's happening today." Borea's photographs echo Lescoulie's remark, affirming Today's significance as a reflection of America's ever-changing cultural landscape.

During this 30-year period, Borea captured Today's numerous hosts, including its inaugural anchor Dave Garroway. He also captured the roster of famous guests that appeared on Today, ranging from such Hollywood luminaries as Shelley Winters, Sean Connery, and Sophia Loren, to noted political figures such as Eleanor Roosevelt and Adlai Stevenson.

Borea's candid and indelible images reveal the show's evolution — from black-and-white to color and from a male-dominated roster of hosts and technicians to the introduction of Barbara Walters (the show's first female co-host) and the women, both in front of and behind the camera, who followed in her footsteps.

Gartenberg Media has previously licensed Borea's photographs from the Today show. In 2023, Borea's portrait of Dave Garroway was used for the cover of Jodie Peeler's book Peace: The Wide, Wide World of Dave Garroway, published by Tyger River Books.
