» Hugh Bell

LGBT

Hugh Bell photographed Gay Culture during the 1980s and 1990s. He created stylish portraits of individuals and couples in both candid and posed moments of self-expression. Bell’s subjects ranged from muscular men to transvestites. Particularly noteworthy is his singular effort to depict African-Americans who participated in these celebrations, which included Gay Pride, Wigstock, and the Greenwich Village Halloween parades.
