THE WOMEN BEHIND HITCHCOCK SERIES AT FILM FORUM THRU AUG. 19TH

Film Forum’s THE WOMEN BEHIND HITCHCOCK series presents thirty-one films on which Hitchcock collaborated with the most important and influential women during his career, most notably, his wife Alma Revile (variously in the roles of story editor, film editor, assistant director, and screenwriter), and producer and screenwriter, Joan Harrison.

Through it’s recent partnership with Kino Lorber, Gartenberg Media is currently distributing THE RING (UK, 1927) on Blu-ray and DVD disk, as well as a downloadable HD file for DSL licensing to our educational clients.

GME would also like to highlight the strong connection between filmmaker Warren Sonbert and Alfred HItchcock. Sonbert wrote a brilliant critical analysis of MARNIE, reproduced in a special issue of Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media in its original typed and handwritten format. In addition, Sonbert modeled his film A WOMAN’S TOUCH (1983), after MARNIE, including the presence of the color red throughout the film. Sonbert has also written that the last four shots of A WOMAN’S TOUCH parallel the gradual process of domestication of the female protagonist in Hitchcock’s movie.
