Beginning on February 19th, ten short works by experimental filmmaker and animator Maria Lassnig will play at the Berlin International Film Festival. GME is proud to distribute these Lassnig titles in the collection MARIA LASSNIG: ANIMATION FILMS, which is available to the North American university market as both a DVD and a DVD/DSL bundle. GME also distributes a 72 minute-long compendium of unfinished works and works-in-progress by Lassnig, titled MARIA LASSNIG: FILM WORKS.

Gartenberg Media Enterprises and The Museum of Modern Art announced MoMA’s acquisition of the archive of Adrienne Mancia (1927-2022) in conjunction with the museum’s recently concluded two month-long tribute In Celebration of Adrienne Mancia. This acquisition by MoMA reflects GME’s longstanding priority to excavate various film, photography, and book and paper collections and place them in museums and archives for long-term safekeeping, preservation, and study.

GME Remembers Mary Weiss, Lead Singer of The Shangri-Las

GME remembers singer Mary Weiss, best known as the frontwoman of the 1960s girl group The Shangri-Las, who passed away on January 19th, 2024, at the age of 75. The cover photo for The Shangri-Las’ first album, Leader of the Pack, was taken by photographer Hugh Bell, whose vast collection GME represents. Notably, GME licensed Bell’s Leader of the Pack cover art for the 2022 film Call Jane, a 1970s-set abortion drama directed by Phyllis Nagy and starring Elizabeth Banks, which features the LP in one of its scenes.

2024 Jerome Robbins Dance Division Annual Symposium To Honor Martha Graham On the Occasion of Her Dance Company's Centennial Anniversary

On January 26th, the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center will present the 2024 Jerome Robbins Dance Division Annual Symposium, a “day-long exploration of Martha Graham and her legacy as her company celebrates its centennial anniversary.” In the 1960s and ‘70s, Graham and her dance company were documented extensively by photographer Jack Mitchell, whose collection GME proudly represents.
