This brief, bouncy Gartenberg Media Clip Licensing Sampler, includes scenes from experimental and independent films that GME makes available for clip licensing purposes to film and television productions worldwide. The clips that we license comprise riveting and dynamic imagery of notable scenesters and their lifestyles, featuring Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy and extended family, John & Yoko, Miles Davis (shooting hoops with Lennon at a celebrity gathering in Riverdale), Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick, Gerard Malanga (all performing with the Velvet Underground), Alan Ginsburg, Michelangelo Antonioni (visiting Shirley Clarke and Jonas Mekas at the Film-Makers' Cooperative) and a score of other key figures from the artistic and cultural worlds. GME provided this classic scene of the Velvet Underground’s maiden performance at the New York Society for Clinical Psychiatry from Jonas Mekas’ WALDEN: DIARIES, NOTES AND SKETCHES (1969). The 3 part BBC series covers Warhol’s glorification and critique of American culture, his changing response to the country’s major historical events and finally as a man obsessed with money and security. In his eary Factory days, Warhol was instrumental in the formation of the Velvet Underground, featuring Lou Reed, John Cale, Nico and others, and who went on to be one of the most influential bands in history.

Warren Sonbert’s HALL OF MIRRORS (1966), THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (1967), and THE TENTH LEGION (1967) were recently presented in the Cineinfinito #165: Warren Sonbert program at Centro Cultural Doctor Madrazo. The 2K DCP versions of these films were prepared by Light Cone, the European distributor of the films of Warren Sonbert in both 16mm and several now as digital versions, which are also available exclusively to the North American educational market by Gartenberg Media via GME Streamline. A total of five early Sonbert titles (the above 3 plus AMPHETAMINE, WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO?, both from 1966), are available as downloadable 2K DSL files from GME.
